Dear Members and Friends of RMMC:
Early on in A Course in Miracles we are told that when you believe you live within the bounds of time and space, the wasting of time is surely tragic! Learning the Course does require dedication of time for conscientious study, and a “little willingness” to let our minds be changed for us, so that higher guidance may prevail in every situation. That higher guidance, call it “Jesus” or “Holy Spirit” as you wish, is available to all who “choose to listen,” and leads us in peace through the trials and tribulations of worldly perceptual experience, or “the dream,” back to the greater Life we have never really lost, though it has been long-denied by a grand illusion.
Maybe the hardest part is giving up control! My little self that runs this body around in the dream is a control freak! But ultimately, that “giving up” is what is meant by true forgiveness, a letting go of all past notions of what we are and what we would otherwise use to guide us in our relationships. This Course is a very practical course in mind re-training. Practice true forgiveness and you will experience miracles! The miracle, whatever may appear to come from it, is itself a shift in perception from the lower, or ego level of perception, to higher perception born of spirit. After practicing awhile, what begins to dawn is that the whole world you see about you, including all those other bodies in it with you, is all perception, and perception is naught but projection of images taking place within the mind!
As one learns true forgiveness and progresses in the Course, grander vistas open up as well. Holy instants come. Relationships become experiences in truly sharing, i.e. holy relationships, as we begin to be aware of the Christ in each other. Oneness and holiness become real experiences, of the true being that you are beyond the body!
A Course in Miracles is practical, experiential spirituality which has helped several millions world-wide. It brings many traditional religious concepts together with modern psychology. Its lessons are amazing stress reducers and do wonders for everyday relationships. (That’s why we say “miracles!”) It does take some work, yet carefully studied, understood and practiced over time, it relieves the mind of its exclusive body identification and awakens increasing higher mind, higher Self awareness.
The presence of the Course in western civilization has inspired hundreds of books as “helpers” and as testimonials to its effectiveness. One very good introduction is “An Introduction to A Course in Miracles.” As far as the Course itself, I recommend the Combined Volume published by the Foundation for Inner Peace. One also should have a good glossary like the “Glossary-Index” from Ken Wapnick’s Foundation for A Course in Miracles. All these can be purchased at the Center. Also Robert Perry, has a “Glossary of Terms from A Course in Miracles,” which can be read from cover-to-cover in a couple evenings.
The Rocky Mountain Miracle Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering the teaching, learning, application and practice of A Course in Miracles. The Center, as an organization, conducts its activities in its own building at 1939 S. Monroe St, Denver. Its website is http://www.miraclescenter.org/ Phone: 303-759-3409. For the coming year its Board of Trustees consists of President, Ron Grow; Vice President, Francis Buckingham; Secretary, Robert M. Bennett; Treasurer, Tanya Zappia and Members at Large, Bud Ham and Anna Kujawa.
