T. 30. VII. 3 – 6. Jesus: “Only a constant purpose in your mind can endow events with a stable meaning. But it must accord one meaning to them all. If they are given conflicting meanings, it must be that they reflect but different purposes at different times. So this is all the meaning they can have. Can this be meaning?
Can confusion be what ‘meaning’ means? Perception cannot be in constant flux, and still allow stable meaning anywhere. Fear, for example, is a judgment never justified. Its presence has no meaning but to show you wrote a fearful script, and are afraid accordingly. But you are not afraid because the thing you think you fear has fearful meaning in itself!
In this shared purpose of oneness, is one judgment shared by everyone and everything you see. You no longer have to judge the meaning of events, for you have learned the one meaning that has been given everything, and you are glad to see it everywhere. It cannot change with appearances, because it is what you want to perceive everywhere, unchanged by any circumstance. And so you offer the Holy Spirit’s purpose to all events, and let them bring stability of meaning in all you see.Escape from judging simply lies in this: All things have but one purpose, which you share with all the world. And nothing in the world can be opposed to it, for wholeness belongs to everything, just as it belongs to you.
How can true communication be established while the symbols that are used mean different things to different ones? The Holy Spirit’s single goal gives one interpretation, meaningful to you and to your brother in every circumstance. Thus can you truly communicate with him again, and he with you.“
