Ch. 6. V. C. 1 – 3. Jesus: “We said before that the Holy Spirit is evaluative, and must be! He sorts out the true from the false in your mind, and in the light of what God put there, teaches you how to consider every thought you allow to enter. To strengthen the Kingdom in you, the Holy Spirit retains that which is in accord with this light. What is partly in accord with it, He accepts and purifies. But what is entirely out of accord He simply ‘judges against’ and rejects from your mind.
This is how the holy Spirit keeps the Kingdom perfectly consistent and perfectly unified. Remember, however, that the very ideas the Holy Spirit rejects are those the ego embraces! This is because He and the ego are in fundamental disagreement about everything, being in fundamental disagreement in the matter of what you are!
The ego’s beliefs on this crucial issue can vary greatly, and that is why the ego is responsible for your widely changing moods. The Holy Spirit never wavers on the point of what you are, and so the one mood He engenders is joy. He protects this awareness by rejecting everything that does not foster joy, and so He alone can keep you wholly joyous!
Because He does not want you to teach error and thus reinforce it in yourself, this ‘judgment’ He uses is certainly not to teach you to judge others. He would hardly be consistent if He allowed you to strengthen the projection of the guilt that you must learn to release and avoid. It is fair to say that His role is ‘judgmental’ within the mind of the thinker, but only in order to unify the mind so that you can perceive wholly. Thus is the mind at last enabled to teach without judgment, and therefore learn to be without judgment.
This undoing in your mind is necessary so that you will not project as the ego would have you do, but instead return to extending as God extends. God has Himself established what you can extend with perfect safety. Therefore, the Holy Spirit’s third lesson is: ‘Be vigilant only for God and His Kingdom!’
This is a major step toward the fundamental change of mind of the Atonement. Yet at this point the fundamental change to whole mindedness is still not complete, for here too is an implication of thought ‘reversal,’ suggesting that there is something you must be vigilant against. It has advanced far from the first lesson, however, ‘To have, give all to all,’ which is merely the beginning of the thought reversal process. It is also beyond the second, ‘To have peace, teach peace to learn it,’ which is essentially the identification of a state that is more desirable.
This third step, which follows from the second as the second follows from the first, emphasizes the dichotomy between the desirable and the undesirable. It therefore makes the ultimate right choice inevitable.”
Note: My e-mails received yesterday indicate that the new book, “One With God,” is now available on Amazon. It is the first of a series demonstrating the Holy Spirit’s personal guidance in the context of the relationship between three dedicated Colorado students of the Course. See www.onewithgod.co
Some of us locally have been in touch with the “scribe,” Marjorie Tyler, now living on Maui as this has been developing over the past several years. I have read the first draft and I heartily recommend it. Arrangements to have Margie, Jo and Meera visit the Rocky Mountain Miracle Center and other local groups are in the works. – Peace and Love – Ron
