Our group strives to study under the teachings of Ken Wapnick while also bringing to the table our own experiences with the Course. We examine various sections including special relationships, Obstacles to Peace, Laws of Chaos, Rules for Decision, and discuss how we might be (mis)applying various precepts of the readings to our daily lives—as well as looking at our various challenges. Our group name, “Forgetting to Remember not to Laugh” is a light-hearted observance of Jesus’ teaching that
“… He teaches remembering and forgetting, but the forgetting is only to make the remembering consistent. You forget in order to remember better.” (T-7.II.6:4-5)
and
“Into eternity, where all is one, there crept a tiny, mad idea, at which the Son of God remembered not to laugh.” (T-27.VIII:6.2).
This group recognizes Jesus’ implicit humor in looking at a vicious, murderous, comically tragic ego production that is the perceived world. We do, however, study this material to show us how to awaken from this mistaken belief, while keeping the Course’s metaphysics in the forefront of our awareness.
Realizing that we are all teachers in some respect, the class is participatory in nature with no formal “teacher” in the usual sense; however, I will attempt to keep the group focused on current topics of discussion (Ha!).
